Assistant Garment Technologist

What is the role

Supporting the delivery of best fit, grading and quality across multiple brands, including plus, tall and petite ranges.

You will play a key role in assisting the teams in managing garments from development through to production approval, ensuring products meet brand standards, are commercially viable, and are ready for bulk manufacture.

 

What you will do

  • Support the Garment Technology team in producing an accurate sample development process to ensure on time delivery and a commercial range.
  • Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting, review competitor activity (retail & online) and visit stores.
  • Work to the company critical path to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work with Garment Technology team to take joint responsibility for fit and quality, ensuring samples and workbooks are prepared for weekly fit sessions.
  • Manage the workbook for each product, ensuring garments are measured accurately and in the same way the suppliers are measuring.
  • Review fit samples to ensure they are fit for production and work closely with suppliers to solve any potential problems that could affect delivery.
  • Ensure fabric and components performs satisfactorily and pass required tests.
  • Organise wearer trials on new products where necessary.
  • Grade garments to fit all sizes and approve to production.
  • Assist with the QC process. Preparing workbooks prior to delivery ready for Warehouse QC checking.
  • Communicate clearly to Buying/Garment Tech, Merchandising and Warehouse QC team in a timely manner and potential quality issues.
  • Helps organize fit squads
  • Contributes towards the input of all meeting preparation.
  • Fulfil general ad hoc duties as required.

 

What you will bring

  • Relevant qualification in Fashion, Clothing Technology or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and measurement.
  • Passionate about fit.
  • Highly organised, good time management with excellent attention to detail.
  • Commercially aware and confident working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and eager to develop
  • Good time management & organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to completing given tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A relevant qualification at higher education, Studying at degree or equivalent level preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel knowledge, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
