Assistant Print Designer

This is a Permanent, Full time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

What is the role 

Alongside creating your own designs, you will also support senior members of the design team with artwork development, recolouring existing prints and preparing CADs using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. You will carry out regular online shop and competitor research to help identify emerging trends, colour direction and new product opportunities. Working closely with the design and buying teams, you will help ensure designs align with product direction and customer demands.

 

What you will do

  • Support the creation of in-house print artwork, creating both placement and all over print designs in conjunction with the Lead Print Designer
  • Ensure artwork is prepared accurately for production and development
  • Assist with the development and recolouring of existing prints and graphics
  • Ability to working to a given design brief by the Buying team
  • Stay up to date with fashion trends, colour stories and competitor activity
  • Carry out online shop and competitor analysis to identify trends, product opportunities and colour direction and complete a monthly report
  • Able to work at a fast-pace and adapt to change
  • Liaise with other team members to ensure effective communication.
  • Take responsibility for personal development and actively seek opportunities for improvement
  • Managing workload and prioritising projects

 

What you will bring 

  • Hand drawing / Procreate / Digital drawing
  • A Fashion Design, Textile Design or Graphic Design degree, or similar creative qualification
  • Graduate, internship or placement experience within a fashion or design environment
  • A portfolio demonstrating hand drawing skills, creativity and an interest in fashion, colour and trends
  • Competent user of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to create a variety of print and graphic styles, with good hand drawing, illustrative and digital design skills
  • An understanding of print techniques and the print design process
  • Highly creative with a strong interest in print design, colour and fashion trends.
  • Able to contribute your ideas to the design team
  • Precision in design work and the ability to spot and correct errors.
  • A passion for fashion particularly in the nonstandard sizing market.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
  • Good time management & organisational skills.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to completing given tasks.
  • A willingness to learn & the ability to work under pressure.
  • A commercial outlook and a keen business sense.
  • A proven record of good attendance & flexibility.
  • The ability to adapt to frequent change in a high-pressure environment.
